Thonga Beach Lodge is set on the pristine Maputaland coast. This small luxury lodge is the ideal place to discover unspoilt and undeveloped wilderness beaches. Thonga Beach is a magical place of balmy beach days, protected snorkelling reefs, exclusive scuba diving, coastal forests, shimmering lakes and exquisite sandy beaches.
Set in the secluded Mabibi bay, on the Elephant Coast (Northern KwaZulu-Natal), Thonga Beach Lodge is in the heart of the Greater St Lucia Wetland Park (now known as Isimangaliso Wetland Park), an internationally recognized World Heritage Site. There are no other developments within a 50km section of pristine beach. The swimming pool, central lodge and rooms are only a stones throw from the beach. Enjoy a relaxing and rejuvenating treatment in the Sea Spa.
Lake Sibaya (Southern Africa's largest natural freshwater lake) is only 6km from the lodge, and is a crystal clear lake with long white beaches. It is the ideal place to enjoy an African sunset or kayak along its edges while looking out for Hippos, Crocodiles and a variety of birds.
The lodge consists of 12 luxury suites in Robinson Crusoe-chic style. The thatched en-suite rooms have been carefully constructed in the coastal dune forest to ensure minimum impact on the environment and guest privacy as well as offering breathtaking views of the natural surroundings.
All suites are air-conditioned and have a private balcony. Our lounge, nestled high in the canopy of the dune forest, offers panoramic views of the Indian Ocean, alternatively enjoy sundowners in the bar lounge or the cool deck under the Coastal Milkwood trees.
Join Thonga Beach Lodge on their Painting and Drawing Workshop taking place 26-31May 2009-you will find more details under our customised itineraries.
