Is the digital format the same as the print magazine?
Yes, the digital format magazines are exact replicas of the Africa Geographic and Africa – Birds & Birding print magazines, in a digital version. The entire contents of the print magazines are available to you, to read online or to download later.
How long does the digital format take to download?
It is a matter of seconds.
What are the prices of the digital format subscriptions?

Why is the price quoted in dollars (US$) only?
The value of the rand (ZAR) fluctuates. If you wish to pay in ZAR, please e-mail our offices (subscriptions@africageographic.com) on the day you wish to subscribe and we will give you the current dollar/rand exchange rate.
Do you have to subscribe to the print magazine to receive the digital format?
No, you can subscribe to the digital format of our magazine without being a print subscriber. The price of the digital format subscriptions are:
Africa Geographic US$22 for 11 issues (1 year)
Africa – Birds & Birding US$12 for 6 issues (1 year)
However, if you subscribe to the print version* of our magazines you will receive the digital format free of charge.

As a subscriber to the print magazine, do I automatically become a digital subscriber?
No, you must notify the Africa Geographic office (subscriptions@africageographic.com) that you wish to receive the digital download as part of your subscription.
Why?
We cannot assume that all print subscribers will want the digital format and out of courtesy we do not like to spam our subscribers unnecessarily.
How many issues of a digital format magazine do I get per subscription?
If you subscribe to the print version of a magazine and have requested the digital format, your digital subscription will run concurrently with your print subscription and expire when it does.
If you are a new subscriber and want to subscribe to the digital format of our magazines, the subscription will run for one year, i.e. 11 issues of Africa Geographic and 6 issues of the bi-monthly Africa – Birds & Birding.
For what period of time is the link live and available to download?
The link will expire after 1 month. We do suggest you download to save later.
Is the digital format of the magazine available at the same time as the print magazine?
Yes, you will receive a download link on the day the print version goes on sale on the newsstand.
Can an existing subscriber forward the digital file to family and friends?
You will be issued with the download link and a personal password every month. This can be forwarded to your friends and family as we understand that you may like to share our wonderful magazines. However, we would like to think that this privilege will not be abused. Should you find a friend or family member consistently asking for your paid link and password, we suggest that you direct him or her to our subscription department to acquire a personal subscription.
How many times am I allowed to forward the digital file to another person?
This can be forwarded to your friends and family as many times as you wish, as we understand that you may like to share our wonderful magazines more than once. However, as mentioned in the question above, we would like to think that this privilege will not be abused.
How do I receive the digital format?
An e-mail will be sent to your inbox with an attached link and a personal password. Simply click on the link to download the digital format and insert your password.
Can I save this link to download later?
Yes, you can download the link as a PDF file and save it to read later.

Will renewal e-mails be sent to digital subscribers to advise them to renew their subscriptions?
The month before your digital subscription is due to expire you will receive an e-mail notification informing you of that fact. To renew, please e-mail us at subscriptions@africageographic.com
Can the digital format be downloaded by both PC and MAC users?
Yes.
If I miss an issue, can I retrieve this later?
Archive magazines are available online via your monthly link and password. You will have access to the previous three issues free of charge*. If you have missed issues that are more than three months old, you will need to request these back issues and pay accordingly (please e-mail subscriptions@africageographic.com for a rate).
* The first issue of our digital magazine is April 2011. You will not be able to request archive editions prior to that date.
Can I cancel my current print subscription and subscribe to the digital format subscription instead?
You will need to wait for your existing print subscription to expire and then subscribe to the digital format of the magazines.
Please note that you will receive the digital format for free whilst you are a print subscriber.
If I am an existing print subscriber, do I receive the digital format for both Africa Geographic and Africa – Birds & Birding?
If you are a print subscriber to both titles you will be able to receive the digital format for both Africa Geographic and Africa – Birds & Birding (by request).
If you only subscribe to the print version of Africa Geographic, you will only receive the digital format of Africa Geographic.
If you only subscribe to the print version of Africa – Birds & Birding, you will only receive the digital format of Africa – Birds & Birding.
