Circulation appears bigger under microscope
At a time when circulation figures are under intense scrutiny, that of specialist wildlife and conservation title Africa Geographic has shown a powerful surge of 17% on the July–September period last year and more than 8% on the April–June period this year.
With circulation now at 28 023, the growth is directly attributable to a focused retail campaign in which the publishers of Africa’s premier nature magazine identified key outlets, increased supply and put together a R100 000 in-store promotion to support the effort.
'We realised that retail is an area that could seriously invigorate our sales and general awareness of the magazine, and happily we found ourselves in the right place at the right time,' acknowledges Johannesburg-based publisher, Tanya Caldwell.
'Green is the new black and with conservation issues never hotter than right now, our climate change-themed August issue found a ready market, with awareness boosted by a concerted PR, radio and press campaign.'
Africa Geographic’s niche eco-loving content and world-class photography continue to impress readers and advertisers across the continent, with both its uncompromising production values and organic circulation growth. |
