CAUGHT IN THE ACT RULES 1. Only photographs and footage taken in Africa and its islands will be considered. 2. Colour transparencies (slides) and prints or digital images are accepted. 3. Photographic submissions must be accompanied by a print – on which the judging will be based – and a CD with the photo saved at 300 dpi in TIFF or JPEG format. Any home video or professional camera footage can be submitted, but it is important that you submit the original source or a clone thereof. 4. All material submitted (slides, prints, CDs and video footage) must be labelled with your name and the title of the entry. 5. To enter the video competition, you must complete an entry form, which is available from caughtintheact@aquavision.co.za or by calling tel. (+27-11) 275 0900. 6. Each entry must be accompanied by details of the camera make and model, lens and film, if used, as well as a short paragraph (no more than 100 words) explaining how and when you captured the photograph or video. 7. Send your photographic entries by registered mail to Caught in the Act, Africa Geographic, P O Box 44223, Claremont 7735, Cape Town, RSA. Remember to include your name, postal address, telephone number and e-mail address. E-mailed entries will not be considered. 8. Send your video entries by registered mail to Caught in the Act, Aquavision, P O Box 11, Buccleuch, 2066, RSA. 9. If you would like your transparencies/video footage returned, please include a self-addressed envelope and a cheque or postal order for R15 to cover the postage. Digital photographic submissions will not be returned. 10. Africa Geographic and Aquavision reserve the right to use the images on their websites and in any compilation publication. 11. All video submissions will automatically be subject to the ‘option to grant a right’ document, which can be found on the Aquavision website. 12. No entries will be accepted after 31 July 2008.The winning portfolio will be published in the December 2008/January 2009 issue of Africa Geographic. |
